KOREA 2024: 명동교자 MYEONGDONG KYOJA

[Travel in March 2024]

I actually bought about this place in 2014. 10 years later, I thought I should update the food photos haha!

When visiting Korea for the first time, it’s common for most people to go to MDKJ, a famous restaurant in the country. Nowadays, they have several outlets in Myeongdong. The original location, established in 1976, remains popular with both Koreans and foreigners who frequent the restaurant.

This is also the restaurant that Shumin really enjoyed on every trip to Korea. To celebrate her special day, we began with the meal she loved. So, here we are. There are four of us this time, but three can’t handle spicy food well, so I can’t have the spinach bibimyeon. It seems like no one can try it with me! (too spicy for them haha!)

Order to share~

kimchi was shumin’s favourite

I actually love the soup base a lot.

After this, we visited SOHA SALT POND and 동백양과점 (Dong Baek). Since I’ve posted about these places before, I might not share everything again. Maybe I’ll post an overall Korea 2024 photo album instead (didn’t make it to a solo page post, haha).

Dong Baek – still as good as ever, the best I’ve had in Ikseon-dong cafes so far. I will visit here again and again!

Soha Salt Pond – I am a little disappointed, the drink was so good when we last visited, but over 2 years, it changed, and not as good anymore. Salted bun wasn’t as good as before too! It’s not bad until you tried – Jayeon Do Salted Bakery in Seongsu.

HELLOSIHUI’S THOUGHTS:
Honestly, it’s not a must-visit for me; I can go to Korea without coming here. However, the soup base is really good, and I always finish it. The bowl of noodles is very filling, so we usually share one. This time, my cousin and I noticed that the portion of noodles was smaller than usual. Not that we minded, since we had a long list of things we wanted to try throughout the day!

HELLOSIHUI’S TIPS:
No worries because the food is served very quickly, and there is plenty of seating. Everyone moves efficiently too! Just remember to bring cash as well! 🙂
