KOREA 2024: (JEJU) Iho Tewoo Horse Lighthouses

[Travel in March 2024]

The Iho Tewoo Horse Lighthouses are one of Jeju’s unique coastal landmarks, featuring two striking horse-shaped lighthouses—one red and one white—standing along the shore. Located near Iho Beach, these lighthouses symbolize Jeju’s deep connection to horses, which have been an important part of the island’s culture for centuries. Their quirky and eye-catching design makes them a popular spot for visitors looking to capture a fun and scenic photo against the backdrop of the ocean. While they may look close in pictures, the two lighthouses are actually quite far apart, so reaching both requires a bit of walking or a short drive.

After five trips to Jeju, I finally got to see the Iho Tewoo Horse Lighthouses in person! It feels surreal to finally check them off my list after all this time. Their unique horse-shaped design is even more charming in real life, and seeing them against the ocean backdrop made the visit totally worth it! 🐴✨

It was drizzling when we arrived, so the sky was a little dark, a little pity but glad to be here

They’re not exactly close to each other—haha! If you plan to visit both lighthouses, make sure to set aside extra time because it’s not a quick walk between them. 😊

or you can swim over haha (just kidding)

Oh grandpa jeju! 🙂

(Located very near to Jeju Airport, just 12 minutes drive)

HELLOSIHUI’S THOUGHTS:
I think it’s worth checking out, especially if you’re driving, since you can stop by before returning the car—which is exactly what we did. It’s also easy to pair with a visit to the rainbow stone seats along the coast. We noticed these seats are pretty common in Jeju and had already seen a few over the past few days, so we didn’t make a special stop just for photos.

HELLOSIHUI’S TIPS:
The two horse lighthouses at Iho Tewoo aren’t that close to each other, so it’s not really possible to reach both just by walking. They’re actually quite a distance apart—haha! 😊
