[#fly2NZ] New Zealand Day 15

[#HELLOSIHUIGOESNZ Oct-Nov 2017]

Probably one of the hottest day we had, my friend just dump her autumn wear today, basically wearing her summer wear :p We gonna to the famous Fairlie Bakehouse for breakfast before our next small “hike”.

Fairlie > Lake Tekapo

Church of the Good Shepherd, is one of the highlight for Lake Tekapo. I have seen so many photos of this church and understanding that from perspective, it’s actually a very small church. But, I never thought it’s way smaller than I thought haha. And lupins are not in full bloom as well (what a waste!)

Lupin not fully bloom and I am sad :(

Mount Cook – Tasman Glacier Lake

The weather is so hot that we think that we shld not go out and got ourselves bake instead. It’s typically living in a oven that very afternoon. We spent some times doing nothing, people watching at a cafe at Mount Cook Village.

While driving to Tasman Glacier Carpark, we actually saw some filming going-on, will that be the next Lord Of The Rings? haha. Tasman Glacier wasn’t easy at all, it’s 25mins worth of stair climbing :/ In another word  – non stop of climbing steps for next 25mins.

Peter’s Lookout

We can’t help it, but stopped the car and take a look at this amazing lake. This is just simply New Zealand, relax and looking countless of beautiful scenery :)

Lake Tekapo Star Gazing

We signed up this – http://tekapostargazing.co.nz/ for a hot pool while star gazing. Although the weather wasn’t the best, I already spotted so many stars that very day. I can’t imagine with a good clear weather, what kind of sky I will be expecting heehee. Good and simple experience with a guide who shared many stars information and we get to see galaxy as well as the moon through their lens. It’s amazing! :)

[#fly2NZ] New Zealand Day 14

[#HELLOSIHUIGOESNZ Oct-Nov 2017]

We had a really simple day yesterday since we spent most of our time travelling down. Good thing is we get to pass by beautiful scenery and we even got down around Arthur Pass for photo too. So blessed with good weather, definitely a little cold, but great weather for travelling long distance :)

 photo IMG_0830 copy_zpspsck0qzm.jpg

And, the best part of today, is waking up to a great morning. Sun is not yet not too strong for our tracking later on. We have some itinerary line up for a great day like this and let’s started with the first one.

Fairlie > Earth & Sky – Astro-Cafe

First, we will be passing by Lake Tekapo and headed to the instagram-worthy Cafe in the south – Earth & Sky Astro Cafe. If I did not remembered wrongly, we need to pay 8NZD for each vehicle and after the payment, the route is a little challenging because its steep and narrow :p

Astro cafe is located at Mount John observatory where you can star gazing too :) And we will able to have a overview of the pretty mirror effect of Lake Tekapo as well. So pretty!

Lake Pukaki
Mount Cook Alpine Salmon (Freshwater King Salmon)

Next, we will be driving 40mins to Lake Pukaki, and enjoyed our salmon meal. We thought of having a fuller meal this time round since we will be doing tracking after this and our host told us to prepare some snack over as well. (We bought chocolate and chips!)

 photo IMG_0866 copy_zps9qwbxyn9.jpg
look at the mirror reflection of Lake Pukaki! :)

 photo IMG_0870 copy_zpsado3pd2w.jpg
that’s a whole lot of salmon!

We bought freshwater king salmon from the Mount Cook Alpine Salmon store and ate right in front of this mirror reflection view. I am lacking of vocab for it, but you can totally see from the photos! :)

Mount Cook – Hooker Valley Track

Next will be driving to Mount Cook and through the entire journey, is effortlessly beautiful. I wanted to sing James Blunt’s You’re Beautiful. The snowy cap mountain make us speechless and we just can’t believe this is New Zealand. It’s definitely one of the prettiest place I visited (of cos, I still love Europe more). I have to say, if you didn’t visit Mount Cook, you really missing out something gorgeous in New Zealand.

[#fly2NZ] New Zealand Day 13

[#HELLOSIHUIGOESNZ Oct-Nov 2017]

Remember I mentioned about booking our accommodation for Franz Josef last? One of the mistake we did yet a blessing?

Because it turned out a great weather for us totally. If we followed “the right route” we will not able to have a mirror effect lake as it’s raining last 3 days of our trip, and we supposed to travel back and staying at Fairlie instead. What a blessing! :)

Guess we made a sweet mistake.

Breakfast at Full of Beans

Kenneth used to work here during his working holiday, so we tried here since we need to get breakfast nearby before our super long journey!

Well, it’s a super long journey for us from Franz Josef to Fairlie, and we decided to take another route – Authur’s Pass to have a scenic view :) I have to say, the south scenery really very pretty, so effortlessly pretty.

Airbnb @ Fairlie :)

Long journey, but thankful to the awesome weather! :)
Once again, I am so happy with our accommodation and we decided to end our night slightly earlier today! :D
